Have you ever thought of becoming a homestay family?
There are many great reasons to become a host family, including making new friends from different countries, learning more about the world and discovering new cultures and customs, all from the comfort of your own home.
School District No. 73 compensates families $1 200 per month, per student. That is $6 000 per semester or $ 12 000 per school year. Families may host up to two students at a time. Homestays are also required for July and August.
Your duties as a host family will include providing a private room for each student, having regular meals with your student, assisting with school start-up routines and providing guidance and support while the student studies in the Kamloops-Thompson School District.
Host families are needed throughout the Kamloops-Thompson area, primarily in Westsyde and Valleyview.
If you are interested in hosting an international student during the upcoming school year, or if you know a friend or family member who may wish to register as a homestay family, please apply at Homestay Application or contact our Homestay Manager, Alice Lamb – alamb@sd73.bc.ca
