Following a comprehensive search, the Kamloops-Thompson Board of Education has appointed Kim Morris as the new Secretary-Treasurer for School District No. 73 (Kamloops-Thompson), effective March 1, 2026.

“The Board of Education is thrilled to welcome Kim Morris to the Kamloops-Thompson School District’s leadership team,” shared Board Chair Heather Grieve. “With her extensive executive and financial leadership experience in school districts across BC, we know she will provide strong financial leadership and operational oversight to support our district’s vision and strategic goals.”

Kim Morris is an accomplished leader in BC school districts, with over 15 years of experience as a Secretary-Treasurer. She joins SD73 from the Peace River South School District in Dawson Creek. Prior to that, she was an integral member of executive leadership teams at school districts in Victoria, New Westminster, Nelson, Trail, and Prince Rupert.

“I'm very excited and deeply appreciative of the opportunity to join the team in the Kamloops-Thompson School District,” shared Kim Morris. “Making a positive impact on student success is the most important work we do. I hope to contribute fully through my experiences in the province while learning alongside the Board of Education, First Nations, staff, partners, and community to fulfil the goals of the District Strategic Plan with transparency, sustainability, and commitment.”

In her work as a Secretary-Treasurer, Kim has led complex budget development processes, multi-year technology action plans, long range facilities planning, asset management, capital projects, and strategic operational planning with credibility, confidence, and compassion. Her financial management and public sector leadership has continuously demonstrated a steadfast commitment to student success in both urban and rural school districts.

Kim’s appointment as Secretary-Treasurer comes shortly after the Board announced Mike St. John as the next Superintendent of Schools. Superintendent Mike St. John will join the Kamloops-Thompson School District in February 2026, with Secretary-Treasurer Kim Morris arriving soon after in March.

Incoming Superintendent Mike St. John shared, “I am very excited that Kim is joining our team at SD73. Her values and beliefs clearly align with our district’s commitment to supporting and developing staff to best serve our students and communities. Kim's broad and diverse experiences as a Secretary-Treasurer over many years will be invaluable as we collectively navigate our path forward.”
