VVS Food Drive Surprises

On the last day of class before the winter break, Valleyview Secondary gathered up items from their food drive which was organized by Mrs. Yamaoka and her senior leadership class. Staff and students contributed items for a whole week in a friendly competition to see which class could bring in the most food.

“When we tallied everything up we had a few surprises,” said Barb Hamblett, VSS Principal. “For starters some of the food was donated by Dawson Wallace Construction, the company that has been sharing our space while they are building our new addition. They are doing a great job with the construction, but they have also become a part of our school community.”

Hamblett said the other surprise is that 500 more pounds of food were collected than last year, for a total of 1,863 pounds of food.

“My heart felt quite full by the end of the day,” she said.
