Community Member Tests Positive for COVID-19

SD73 has been informed that a member of the NorKam Senior Secondary school community has tested positive for COVID-19. They are self-isolating at home with support from local public health teams. We are thinking about them and their family as they recover.

In a letter sent to NKSS parents on Sunday, the school advised that it is supporting Interior Health as the health authority works to determine if any other members of the school community were in contact with this person, and whether any further steps are required.

The Interior Health is performing contact tracing, and will determine if anyone in the school community is a close contact that is required to self-isolate. Only the Interior Health can determine who is a close contact. Please check the Interior Health School Exposure website more information.

Parents are advised to follow the advice of the Interior Health if they are contacted. If they are not contacted, it will be because the health authority has determined their child is not at risk of developing COVID-19.

In the meantime, parents and guardians are advised to the let their children come to school while contact tracing is underway, while continuing daily health checks.
