Call for Nominations: 2026 Owl Award & Board Award of Recognition
Dear Staff, Parents, and Caregivers,
The Kamloops-Thompson Board of Education is pleased to invite nominations for two district awards that celebrate the people and organizations whose dedication strengthens public education across our school communities.
This is an opportunity to recognize those whose contributions—often quiet, generous, and sustained—have made a meaningful difference for students, schools, and families in our district.
Owl Award for Excellence in Public Education
Nomination deadline: April 20, 2026
The Owl Award for Excellence in Public Education is a prestigious district-level honour that recognizes outstanding, system-wide contributions to public education in the Kamloops‑Thompson School District.
The Owl Award recognizes individuals, groups, or organizations who are role models and who have demonstrated selflessness, generosity, and significant impact over five years or more in one or more of the following areas:
- Student Learning and Teaching
- Athletics
- Fine Arts
- Community Well-being and Partnerships
- Extra- or Co-Curricular Learning
- Administration and Support
- Governance
If you know an individual or group whose long‐term contributions have positively shaped public education in our district, we encourage you to consider nominating them for this year’s Owl Award.

Board Award of Recognition
Nomination deadline: May 1, 2026
Launched in 2024, the Board Award of Recognition honours an individual who is a collaborative, enthusiastic, selfless, generous, and a positive risk taker committed to student well‑being and inclusive school communities.
This award recognizes individuals who:
- Support the growth and well-being of all learners
- Champion inclusive learning environments, particularly for learners who have been historically marginalized
- Help break down barriers to student success by creating accessible and empowering opportunities
Nominations can recognize staff, parents, caregivers, volunteers, or community members whose actions have made a lasting and meaningful difference within a school or across the district.
