Strategies for Promoting Positive Mental Health in Our Schools and Community
SD73 promotes positive mental health for children and youth. As addressed in the BC curriculum and Social Emotional Learning Programs.
Mental health literacy is defined as:
- Understanding about how to obtain and maintain good mental health
- Understanding mental health disorders and treatment
- Decreasing stigma
- Increasing knowledge on how to access help
The goal of mental health literacy programming is to improve knowledge and understanding of mental health and to teach tools and strategies that strengthen mental health well-being.
