If you have a child entering kindergarten in September 2021, join us to learn about kindergarten and childcare with presentations by an Early Learning Coordinator, an Aboriginal Resource Teacher and an Early Childhood Educator.

Dates for Neighbourhood schools on-line registration:

Feb.15, 2021 until Feb. 26, 2021

  • Parents are strongly encouraged to register children for kindergarten on these dates.
  • Registration for your neighbourhood school is based on catchment boundaries.
  • If you are unsure where to register, contact the School Board Office at 250-374-0679.
  • If you are unable to register on-line please contact your neighbourhood school directly for an in-person appointment from Feb. 16 to Feb. 26, 2021, 9 AM to 12 PM, and 1 PM to 3 PM. Due to COVID-19 drop-in visits to schools are discouraged.  School visitor safety protocols can be found here. 

Dates for Schools of Choice on-line registration:

 From Jan. 25 at 9:00 AM, until 12:00 PM on Feb. 5, 2021.

  • Please register anytime during this period.
  • This registration is NOT first come, first served. If there are more children registered than there are seats at the School of Choice, a random draw will be held. 
  • Parents will receive notification directly from the School of Choice between Wednesday, Feb. 9 and Friday, Feb. 12, 2021.

How to register for Neighbourhood Schools: 

1. Download the Student Enrolment Form. Read it carefully before starting, make sure you have all the information required. Complete the form and then save it to your computer.

2. Locate copies of:

  • Child’s original birth certificate
  • BC services card (front and back)
  • Proof of current address (within 2 months). This could be a household bill such as Hydro or Fortis, a driver's license ONLY IF it has been renewed in the last 2 months.
  • Legal documentation concerning custody (if applicable).

3. Check the catchment area.

 School Catchment Boundaries
Following a public consultation process in 2010, the Board of Education approved implementation of new school catchment areas within the City of Kamloops.  Starting September 2011, the catchment area boundaries are in effect for all schools.  

Use the City of Kamloops' property information finder (link below) to enter a residential address and obtain the school that residence belongs to. Enter your home street address, then click FIND, then click on "Property Report". Your school catchment for both secondary and elementary will be shown under the first heading "Parcel Description and Location". 

How to register for Schools of Choice:
Registration must be completed for each School of Choice you are considering.

All procedures for the collection and storing of kindergarten registration information by District employees follows the provisions set out in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). Read more here


 

Other Registrations


For families with older students wishing to explore registration in a School of Choice, or for those who are new to the school district, contact the school directly to register your child.

If your child is currently enrolled in their catchment school and you wish to apply for a transfer to another school, please fill out a Student Transfer Request.
