Henry Grube Education Centre

The Henry Grube Education Centre is the physical and virtual hub of the school district. It provides comprehensive services and spaces to support SD73 work and includes access to a district Library Learning Commons (LLC) and a district Print Shop/Graphics and Audiovisual Departments.

Our District Library Learning Commons, housed at the Henry Grube Education Centre (HGEC), provides SD73 staff access to a culturally rich collection and library services that supports the implementation of the K-12 BC curriculum.


The HGEC LLC provides cost effective and equitable access to professionally curated curricular resources for all schools in our district.Teachers can access this comprehensive K-12 collection by coming in person Monday-Friday between 8:00 am-4:30 pm or ordering online https://media.sd73.bc.ca. Materials can either be picked up or delivered to schools on a weekly basis.  **During Stage 2 of the SD73 Restart Plan, the HGEC LLC is open from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm, by appointment only.  Please contact the HGEC Office in order to make an appointment.  

Support and Information Services:

The HGEC LLC staff provide school library support including District Cataloging services, technical support, resource evaluation and curation and ERAC digital database deployment services. All staff are welcome to use the LLC space for collaboration, planning and small group presentations. Specialty equipment are also available to use such as the District Die Cut Machine. The HGEC is home to the district's Inclusive Education Services. Inclusive Education Services support schools to engage all learners in an inclusive school experience that is participatory and enabling.

Inclusive Education personnel include Itinerant Teachers, School and Family Consultants, Mental Health Clinicians, Speech and Language Pathologists, School Psychologists, and Inclusion Support Teachers.

Our district's Curriculum Coordinators and Resource Teachers work from the HGEC, supporting curriculum implementation and professional development. 

The Henry Grube Education Centre is home to the Aboriginal Education Department. We are committed to supporting, enhancing and increasing school success for all First Nations, Inuit, Metis and self-identified Aboriginal students in the district. We do this through professional development, increasing awareness, cultural and academic support and opportunities for students, parents, and staff.

The district's Print Shop and Audio Visual Department are part of the HGEC.  The Print Shop provides graphic design and printing for the district and the Audio Visual Department provides resources and technical support to schools and the district.

Many of the district's meetings are held at the HGEC.  Meeting rooms with seating capacity of 15 to 200 are used regularly for district and community learning events.  Three rooms have video conferencing abilities to connect meetings virtually to outlying communities. A computer lab is used to provide a variety of technical training programs.

The HGEC is located on the North Shore, just across the Overlander Bridge at 245 Kitchener Crescent.
