Indigenous Student Leadership Council Gives Back to Community

Indigenous Education |

In April, the SD73 Indigenous Student Leadership Council spent the morning volunteering at the Kamloops Food Bank, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to community and service.

The Indigenous Student Leadership Council is made up of Indigenous student leaders representing all secondary schools across the district. As part of their work, students identified giving back as a key priority, grounded in the teachings of the Circle of Courage, specifically the value of generosity.

Through their efforts, students supported the Kamloops Food Bank in meaningful ways while strengthening their own sense of purpose, connection, and leadership. The experience was a powerful example of youth leading with compassion and action in their community.

Many of these student leaders will also represented SD73 at the Indigenous Student Regional Summit in May, where youth from 13 districts gathered to share their voices and focus on mental health and well-being.

We are proud of these students for the leadership they continue to show, both locally and beyond.
