Current Youth Work in Trades Students
Document Your Hours
Every 120 hours of work is the equivalent of a 4 credit high school course, which can earn up to four courses. To document your progress, your employer must submit your work-based training hours to SkilledTradesBC. Once the employer submits the work-based training hours, the student and employer work together to complete the following for each 120 hours worked:
- A trade specific Training Plan (see below) outlining the type of work the student did
- A Student Self-Evaluation and
- Employer Observations
All three documents should be returned to your school Trades and Transitions coordinator. This process is repeated for each 120 hours of work, up to 480 hours.
To qualify for the $1000 provincial scholarship, you must graduate with a minimum C+ average on grade 12 courses, complete all four Youth Work in Trades courses, and have 900 or more hours submitted. Visit Youth Work in Trades Scholarship for more information.
If you have not registered for YWIT and are interested, please visit Youth Work in Trades for more information on this program.
