Power Engineering Technology Certificate (Gr. 12)

Students will gain the knowledge and skills needed to earn the 4th Class Power Engineering Certification through Technical Safety BC, and work as a 4th Class Power Engineer. Students will learn to maintain and operate heating and power plants, refrigeration systems and auxiliary equipment like pumps, compressors, steam turbines, electrical generators, cooling towers and water treatment systems. Power Engineers have the opportunity to work in commercial facilities like hospitals, schools and apartment buildings, or industrial facilities like mines, mills, power generation stations and petrochemical plates.
TRU Accuplacer Test Requirement:
If you are a grade 11 student applying to participate in the Power Engineering program in your grade 12 year, you must complete TRU's Accuplacer test by February 5, 2026. Visit here for more details.
Grade 10 students applying to participate in the Power Engineering program in their grade 12 year, must write the Accuplacer test in grade 11 by the February 2027 deadline.

Fee: All ancillary fees are the responsibility of the student. Please see application for estimated costs. Tuition for grade 12 year is paid by SD73 to TRU.
