YMCA Child Care Opening at Parkcrest Elementary School in September 2025
The Kamloops-Thompson Board of Education is excited to announce that 28 full-day child care spaces for children ages 0 to 5, operated by YMCA BC, are expected to open at Parkcrest Elementary School in September 2025.
YMCA BC already has a strong partnership with the Kamloops-Thompson School District, offering after-school care at Rayleigh Elementary. With proven experience in providing quality child care services, YMCA Child Care provides safe and welcoming environments where children can stretch their skills in mind and body while building positive relationships with caring adults. Their goal to ensure continued enthusiasm and capacity for lifelong learning for each child aligns with the District's Strategic Plan.
The YMCA expects to have spaces licensed and available as of September 2, 2025 (license pending). Hours of operation will be Monday to Friday from 7:45 am to 5:00 pm. More information regarding YMCA Child Care can be found in the YMCA BC Early Years Handbook.
Parents and guardians who are interested in accessing child care at Parkcrest Elementary, must register through the YMCA, as they are the operators of the early years programs at this location, separate from our District.
YMCA WAITLIST & REGISTRATION PROCESS
To ensure a fair and transparent registration process, YMCA BC will open the Parkcrest Child Care waitlist from June 9 to June 23, 2025. During this period, all families who join the waitlist will be entered into a lottery, which will determine the waitlist order. Families who join the waitlist after June 23 will be added on a first-come, first-served basis. This approach allows all families time to receive the information and participate equitably.
Registration forms will be provided to parents once they are offered a space in the program. YMCA BC will not collect personal information beyond the waitlist form until that time.
