Summer School is for students in grades 8-9 on a review basis for students who would like additional time to improve proficiency level, or in grades 10-12 who were not successful in a core course and would prefer not to repeat the course the following school year. Full-credit courses are also available for grade 10-12 students who have not yet taken a particular course and would like to do so in an intensive face-to-face program over a three-week timeframe in July.
Secondary Summer School will run daily on weekdays (Monday through Friday) beginning Monday, June 29, to Monday, July 20, 2026, closed on Wednesday, July 1, for Canada Day, at Sa-Hali Secondary School, located at 255 Arrowstone Dr., Kamloops.
Three types of courses are offered:
- Review courses (grades 8-9) – for students who earned a proficiency of emerging or developing in a grade 8 or 9 course and would benefit from additional instruction and learning activities to set them up for success in the next grade’s course.
- Remedial courses (grades 10-12) - for students who achieved at least 40 per cent in a course and wish to improve their grade. Remedial courses provide 40 hours of instruction. Students who successfully complete a remedial course receive a "C.” Students who wish to achieve a higher mark than a “C” should take a full-credit course.
- Full-credit courses (grades 10-12) - for students who achieved less than 40 per cent in a course, or students who have not taken a course previously. Full-credit courses provide 80 hours of instruction. The school day hours for full-credit courses are 8:45 AM - 2:45 PM.
- NOTE: Students in grade 10-12 are limited to taking one full-credit course, or two remedial courses, during our July Summer Learning program. Students in grade 8-9 review courses can take up two courses (one morning, one afternoon session).
Secondary Summer Learning school day hours are as follows:
- Full courses: 8:45am to 2:45pm, with a half-hour lunch break (students need to bring a lunch daily).
- Review/Remedial courses: either 8:45am to 11:30am or 12:00pm to 2:45pm (schedule will be set by the principal according to scheduling needs – students can request AM or PM but that may or may not be able to be accommodated – will be finalized first day).
