Capital Advocacy

SD73 Board Capital Advocacy & Community Engagement

The Kamloops-Thompson Board of Education is committed to advocating for the capital investments needed to support current and future enrolment across School District No. 73 (Kamloops-Thompson).

The Board has managed student enrolment growth and space pressures with the strategic placement of portable classroom spaces and catchment changes. While these measures have helped meet some immediate needs, they are not long-term solutions. Continued reliance on portables and temporary learning spaces demonstrates the need for new schools, long-term capital planning, and permanent infrastructure solutions. New schools, school additions, replacement schools, playgrounds, and future school sites remain critical to ensuring students have access to the learning spaces, supports, and opportunities they need to succeed.

As we continue this work together, we encourage you to learn more about the district's current capital project priorities, stay informed, and join us in advocating for the schools and learning environments our students deserve.

How to Get Involved

Strong advocacy is essential to securing provincial funding for these important projects, and community voices play a vital role in that process. The Board actively works with government, local municipalities, Indigenous rights holders, parents, caregivers, staff, and community partners to highlight the district's capital priorities and the need for investment in our communities.

If you choose to support one or more priorities for board advocacy, please consider writing a letter and/or contacting Board Chair Heather Grieve who writes letters and organizes conversations about capital advocacy priorities of the Kamloops-Thompson Board of Education.
