Celebrating SD73 School Leaders on National Principals’ Day
Today we recognize National Principals' Day. This is a day to honour and celebrate the incredible principals and vice-principals who lead schools across the Kamloops-Thompson School District with care, courage, and a deep commitment to students and staff.
Principals and vice-principals are central to student success in our schools, balancing vision and day-to-day realities, supporting staff through complex work, and fostering school communities where students feel safe, welcome, and ready to learn and grow. Their leadership shapes school and district culture, strengthens relationships with families and communities, and helps turn shared goals into lived experiences for learners and staff alike.
The role of a school leader is demanding and often unpredictable, and our principals and vice-principals lead each day with professionalism, empathy, and a belief in public education, staff, students, and each other. Their influence and care are felt in classrooms, hallways, and across our communities.
On behalf of the Board of Education and district leadership team, we want to express our sincere appreciation to all SD73 principals and vice-principals for the responsibility they carry and the leadership they provide. Thank you for your dedication to your school communities and for the difference you make in the lives of students and colleagues every day.
Please join us in celebrating National Principals’ Day. Take a moment today to share your thanks and recognition with the principals and vice-principals you work and learn alongside.
With gratitude,
Heather Grieve, Board Chair
Mike St. John, Superintendent
