Celebrating SD73 Teachers Who Brighten Our Future on World Teachers’ Day

District News |

Dear Staff, Parents, and Caregivers,

Today, on World Teachers' Day, we join school communities across Canada and around the world in celebrating and thanking teachers for the extraordinary difference they make in the lives of students every day.

This year's Canadian Teachers’ Federation World Teachers' Day theme, “Thank You for Brightening Our Future,” recognizes the profound impact teachers have on students and the futures they help shape. One learner at a time, teachers spark curiosity, build confidence, foster belonging, and empower young people to thrive. Through their work, they help create a brighter future for all of us.

In the Kamloops-Thompson School District, we know that excellence in education is about people over programs. It comes from teachers who ensure students feel seen, heard, valued, and capable. Every day, teachers manage the complexities of classrooms while creating learning environments where students can develop their skills, discover their strengths, demonstrate agency, and pursue their goals.

Through knowing each learner deeply, designing educational experiences with intention and care, and maintaining an unwavering commitment to the flourishing of every student, teachers help young people become more of who they are capable of becoming. Their influence extends far beyond academics, helping students build confidence, resilience, character, and a sense of connection and belonging.

Teachers dedicate countless hours to supporting extracurricular activities, coaching athletic teams, leading clubs, directing performances, organizing special events, and building meaningful relationships with students and families. Their commitment enriches school communities and creates opportunities that inspire students to learn, engage, and succeed.

Today, we encourage students, families, colleagues, and community members to take a moment to thank the teachers in their life for the difference they make and the impact they have each day.

To all teachers in the Kamloops-Thompson School District: thank you for your dedication, expertise, care, and commitment to students. Thank you for brightening our future and for the countless ways you inspire, support, and empower learners each and every day.

With gratitude,
