Connecting Students to Future Opportunities at SD73’s Post-Secondary Info Night

GraduationGraduation, District News |

On Thursday, October 1, 2026, more than 135 students attended the Post-Secondary Info Night at the Henry Grube Education Centre where they had the opportunity to connect with recruiters and learn about post-secondary opportunities across BC.

The event welcomed Grade 10-12 students and community members from across the Kamloops-Thompson School District. Attendees were able to learn about post-secondary admissions requirements, programs and degrees, scholarships and financial aid, residence and student life, application deadlines, and next steps.

Olivia Walker, a Grade 12 student from Sa-Hali Secondary, shared, “It was nice to see all of the different universitates and speak with their representatives. It was helpful to see the program requirements that I would need.”

Ava Lunn, a Grade 11 students from South Kamloops Secondary School (SKSS) shared, “I appreciated the thorough answers from the recruiters, and the patience and willingness to share about post-secondary opportunities.”

Fellow SKSS Grade 11 student, Saya Thomson said, “I really appreciated the in-depth answers from the recruiters and their help.”

Payton Braybrook, also in Grade 11 at SKSS, added, “Having an event in the community available for all students to learn about what our futures can look like helps the process in being less overwhelming. This is something I'm very grateful for because the process can spring on you (and it feels out of nowhere)!”

Representatives from 13 BC post-secondary institutions attended the event to connect with students. Thank you to Post-SecondaryBC, Camosun College, the Canadian Forces/Royal Military College, Emily Carr University, Langara College, North Island College, Okanagan College, Selkirk College, Thompson Rivers University, Trinity Western University, University of Northern British Columbia, University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, and Vancouver Island University for sharing information and opportunities with SD73 students.
