Canadian Children's Book Week 2026

Curriculum & Learning |

Canadian Children’s Book Week is an annual literary celebration that connects Canadian authors and creators with children and teens across Canada. Authors, illustrators, and storytellers tour communities and schools across the country to share their stories and inspire a lifelong love of reading in children and teens.

From April 26 to May 2, 2026, over 270 Kamloops-Thompson students experienced presentations from Canadian author Megan Clendenan in school libraries across district for this year’s Canadian Children’s Book Week. Megan Clendenan inspired students to slow down, foster their observation skills, and remain reflective about their surroundings with her presentations Seeds Buried in the Attic and Design by Nature. After learning about biomimicry for instance, Megan encouraged students to create a design for their own invention, inspired by nature. Students and staff left her presentation with a renewed sense of hope and were keen to learn more about ways the natural world can sustain and inspire us.
